GENETIC AND BIOCHEMICAL BASIS OF RADIATION SENSITIVITY IN HUMAN AND OTHER MAMMALIAN CELLS IN CULTURE

Objective

The result of the research supported the previous observation, that the ER response was somehow correlated with the induction of cancer. To study this correlation further, the ER response was determined in ultraviolet (UV) irradiated skin fibroblast from hereditary cancer prone syndromes. Interestingly, much higher levels of ER were observed in all these syndromes than in normal human skin fibroblast.
3. DNA REPAIR AND MUTAGENESIS.

EXPECTED BENEFITS

EVALUATION OF GENETIC RISKS FROM IONIZING RADIATION. DETERMINATION OF CELLULAR RADIOSENSITIVITY AND RELATION TO REPAIR.
