Objective
The proposed project aim is to develop an interactive menu driven cost analysis software to support the design engineer with all necessary informations about cost consequences. This cost analysis tool will be integrated in the design process and will use all available informations from the CAD and CAE data bases in the different design stages.
The methodology will concentrate on composite technology. This leads to a workshare of the partners concerning the following different types of structures:
- Skins (flat, single and double curvature).
- Monolithic stiffened skins.
- Sandwich structures.
The project is orientated toward the European aircraft industry, because of the fact that cost estimation for composite structures is an urgent need. The methodology is believed although to be applicable to other mechanical industries.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
