Exploitable results

The Brite-EuRam DEVILS project concerned the development of widely applicable design guidelines against buckling for CFRP and GRP structures, subjected to loading combinations. Given the scope of the project it is impractical to effectively present all the salient results of the project. This section, therefore, concentrates on the definition of the major results. 1. The development and validation of guidelines for the design of imperfection-tolerant, laminated, unstiffened, cylindrical shells. 2. The recommendation of procedures for performing buckling tests on laminated composite shells. 3. The evaluation of the effect of imperfections on buckling. 4. The validation, through buckling experiments, of analytical and numerical tools for predicting buckling.
