ENHANCEMENT OF SYNCHRONISING CONES' PERFORMANCE LASER SURFACE PROCESSING

CORDIS provides links to public deliverables and publications of HORIZON projects.

Links to deliverables and publications from FP7 projects, as well as links to some specific result types such as dataset and software, are dynamically retrieved from OpenAIRE .

Exploitable results

In the production of ferrous PM parts for the automotive industry, a wider field of application of synchronizing cones is possible by enhancement of their performance by laser processing and design. Additionally, laser processing allows greater accuracy and increased safety in the production process.
New laser surface processed synchronizing cones have been designed, manufactured and submitted to tribological tests. The synchronizing cones comprise sintered steel with and without molybdenum coatings. A process control sensor ensures that the programmed surface temperature is maintained at a constant level.
