OPTIMISED FIRE SAFETY OF OFFSHORE STRUCTURES

CORDIS provides links to public deliverables and publications of HORIZON projects.

Links to deliverables and publications from FP7 projects, as well as links to some specific result types such as dataset and software, are dynamically retrieved from OpenAIRE .

Exploitable results

The methodology and the prototype software system OFSOS (optimized fire safety of offshore structures) has been developed by the integration of conventional risk analysis methods with the modern methods of structural system reliability analysis and reliability based optimization. The methodology is innovative and rational as it treats all the uncertainties involved in the fire and blast effects on offshore structures in a probabilistic framework. The applications include accurate and explicit quantification of the risk due to fire and blast events, identification of effective mitigation measures, optimal design of passive fire protection and estimation of the safe time available for the evacuation of personnel. The benefits include rational inputs for decision making on platform operations, reduction in costs and improvement in safety of the installation.
