Automated electronic gravure printing process

Objective

The AUTOGRAVURE Project intends to standardize the process of electronic engraving of cylinders for the gravure printing process and the integration of digital technology in order to automate it. The RTD goals being: (a) to achieve work standards which will allow to reach a repetitive quality level given certain process prerequisites, and (b) To integrate digital technology in the electronic engraving process which will allow the automation of the process. In order to achieve these standards it is necessary to develop a methodology by building sets of correlation curves driving to the standarization of the electronic cylinder engraving process taking into account, all process variables such as base cylinder material (Electroplating operation process variables), engraving mode (reticle inclination and concentration, diamond type) ink characteristics, printing material (metallic, plastic, etc.), colours combination, etc. A relevant area will be the development of photography trapping SW in order to standardize the photography and graphics data handling. Also the avoidance of pre-production proofing processes Due to this approach the collaboration and integration of the different disciplines, technologies and/ or know how holders involved is a fundamental issue. A quantitative objective would be to be able to speed up the response time to a new customer requirement of 48 hours. Also the avoidance of existing proofing processes which are lengthy and costly.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
