Construction of a high resolution map of chromosome 21 integrating genetic, physical, overlap and transcriptional data

Objective

The Chromosome 21 con sortium would like to increase the number of ressources available for mapping this chromosome and support the proposal of two groups from Russia: P 13 and P 14. The proposal of P 14 is to fill the gaps existing around the centromere and in the telometric region in the first generation map produced by P 5 in the preceding consortium (92-93) and by the CEPH-Genethon group: P 14 proposed to localize and characterize existing cosmid clones and produce new clones. Sequencing of these cosmids will also bring informations on the role of consensus centromeric or telemeric sequences. The proposal of P 13 is to participate to the construction of the transcriptional map: P13 has constructed a library of chromosome 21 heterogeneous nuclear c DNA (h nc DNA) and proposes to include this library in the list of libraries available to the consortium members. P 13 intends to produce new ETSs, to map mew genes and to isolate regulatory sequences located in gene introns. P 13 and P 14 would bring new ressources to the chromosome 21 consortium and would participate to the construction of an integrated genetic, physical and transcriptional map of chromosome 21.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
