Objective
Tools in mechanical manufacturing companies (machining, forging, sheet metal, ...) are necessary to have but expensive to use. Improved tool management reduces the set-up times and allows to hold less tool stock. This is especially important for subcontracting SME's, since they are facing a wide variety of products which they have to manufacture at short delivery times.
This project aims to implement efficient solutions for improved tool management in the participating SME's at a reasonable price. It is an answer to the increasing demand in SME's for efficient low-cost solutions instead of sophisticated and expensive systems. The collaboration with a large group of tool manufacturers is very valuable for a good result.
