Objective
The objective of this project is to develop a video inspection system with the aim of controlling the quality of the surface of tufted carpet from start to finish without any gaps.
This system, which will be adjusted to the tufting machine, will objectively recognise impermissible deviations from the normal state of the surface structure directly when the carpet is formed and this with a high degree of certainty. In this process a distinction will be made between the following types of faults:
-missing or broken threads, pull out of pile thread caused by wear of knife,
-changes in the distance between the individual yarn nep on the carpet, unequal gaps,
-occurrence of incorrectly drawn in threads or double threads,
-differences in the formation and arrangement (i.e. form and position) of the loops,
-unnormal stripes on the carpet surface, striped cut faults, standstill markings,
-deviations in the regularity of the surface structure, hairiness, roughness.
A complete video inspection system including camera and illumination systems, hardware and impage processing software will be developed and tested for detecting the different faults.
