Objective
Basis of the industrial serial production are production resources like moulds and dies which are mostly produced in small and medium sized enterpri-ses with less than 60 employees. In the past these companies were able to technically keep up with the progress, like the introduction of CNC-machines and the use of CAD/CAM-systems, and meet the growing demands of their custo-mers. The introduction of computer aided systems in the field of planning and organisation, such as PPC and CAP, has been neglected. The reasons are the particular characteristics of the customer order related individual production. Production planning on the basis of the product structure does not work, because the planning has to be done in the tender phase, when the design is not ready and therefore no bill of materials is available. In this project a suitable product structure should be developed and imple-mented on a software system. Based ont his a cost statement and process planning software will be realized. A product structure for the special tooling industry has to be function oriented and production oriented so that it can be used in the tender making process and reused in the process planning. Basis for this will be features with their characteristics.
