New conductive polymers for electrostatic painting of insulating plastic surfaces to eliminate toxic and allergogenic heavy metals

Objective

It is well known that some chemicals used for the painting and the treatment of pla- stic materials are unhealthy for people and dangerous for the environment (i.e. orga- nic solvents or heavy metals as nickel, lead and zinc used in the galvanostatic field). The aim of this project is to make easier the electrostatic painting and the galvanic application (gilding and silvering) of the plastic materials. We want to prepare che- mical products (polymers) able to minimise the environment impact and to induce electrical conductivity and suitable surface tension on plastics and on other mate-rials.
The primers with the above mentioned characteristics allow to eliminate pretreat- ment containing CFC and their derivatives before painting. Actually the painting of plastic materials requires finishing process containing allergic-toxic heavy metals: our goal is to use paints with lower polluting contents as waterborne, powders or high so- lids paints.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
