Objective
The generation of highly precise profile cuts of large variants into mass-produced metal sheet parts is still a manufacturing problem of today. Especially the mass- production of minor lot sizes of small work pieces requires a very flexible manufacturing process. The project goal is the development of a cutting technology which meets the mentioned requirements. Based on an analysis of this manufacturing problem a production process will be selected, which offers the greatest potentials concerning an economic and quality consistent production. As theoretically available manufacturing technologies, laser beam as well as water jet cutting and milling will be considered. Following this, an optimization of the chosen manufacturing process an the process periphery will be carried out with the aim of an economic and qualitative high production. The exemplary implementation of the research results into the industrial practice is the conclusion of the project. The results of the research work shall enable the European SME's from the various branches such as the automotive supplier-, electric appliance- and electronic industry to produce new, innovative products by which they can strengthen or extend their position with respect to international competition.
