Objective
This research concerns the reuse of cast sands and of phospho-gypsum for the manufacturing of a new building material, extremely porous, with a great acoustic absortion and, therefore, very appropriate to build outdoors acoustic barriers (its manufacturing process develops a mineral structure insensitive to any atmospheric agent).
The main manufacturing phases may be summed up as follows:
1.- Materials selection and characterization.
2.- Development of a special handling industrial technique of the products, as there are two specially hazardous kinds of waste (they both nearly 80 % of the composition of the final product).
3.- Optimization of the final physical-chemical characteristics of the product.
4.- Final product behaviour in service (mechanical, acoustic and thermic qualities, etc.). The resulting Ecogyps besides achieving the waste disposal, with a blocking or transformation of the polluting agents, has obvious technical qualities, compared with the other market products, and has an evident contribution to environment.
