The actual energy consumption was 7 000 kWh/house/year, i.e. 46% more than expected figures. The main reason is that users were reluctant to use heat pumps at night because of the noise level, and preferably used the so called "auxiliary" LPG heating boiler.
19 one family houses are heated with electric driven heat pumps, the cold sources being external air and/or extracted air. A LPG boiler is used for domestic hot water production and auxiliary heating. Savings are expected to be such that the energy consumption should not exceed 4 800 kWh/house/year. The payback period of the overcost is expected to be 10.6 years.
