BURNERS WITH FLAME LENGTH MODULATION IN A SLAB REHEATING FURNACE

Objective

The project is about the installation in a heating zone of a slab reheating furnace with four burners with flame length modulation.
These burners ensure a very homogenious heating of a slab thus reducing the average heating temperature.
There results energy savings and major improvements of the quality, productivity and also reduction polluant emissions of nitrogene and sulfuric oxydes.

The differents stages are :
Phase 1 - pre-studies of the size and the fitting of the burners Phase 2 - pre-studies of the instrumentation to be installed
Phase 3 - burners construction
Phase 4 - mounting of burners, piping, utilities
Phase 5 - mounting of control and monitoring system for each air entry
The burners to be installed are of concentric distribution airs and fuel type, allowing impulsion modulation and rate distribution. This operation results in energy consumption reduction of the reheating furnace for four reasons :
- reduction of the 20 deg. C overheating of the medium short slabs i. e. annual saving of 283 tep
- reduction of the 10 deg. C overheating of the long and short slabs i. e. annual saving of 283 tep
- decrease of the air excess with 170 tep/yr of energy saving
- increase of the furnace heating yield with 227 tep/yr of energy saving.
So a total energy saving of : 963 tep/yr.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
