Deliverables

The e-Coaching portal is a prototype for a web-based e-Coaching portal as flexible instrument for cooperation within a project and as tool for vocational education and training. It serves for the dissemination of the project results and for the offer of an exemplary e-learning lesson concerning the subject "Daylight in architecture" with the focus on HOE's. The e-Coaching portal is a system, which can be reached and used via the World Wide Web. Concerning the application, there is a distinction between anonymous users who can access general data like project objectives and results and the users who are registered and identified via password. Potential applications for this result The general structure of the e-Coaching portal as tool for information and training can be used as well for different international projects as for a different learning content. The open and flexible structure of the system can be "filled up" with any other content and adjusted to the needs of any other target group and training objective. Main innovative features/ benefits In comparison to other e-learning systems the e-Coaching portal is one of the most useful training offers as it combines different aspects under one surface: e-Coaching component, e-consulting, tools for team working and communication as well as knowledge-management and information management. On top of that, the open structure of the system offers many possibilities for further development. The innovation of the e-Coaching portal lies in the combination of the following aspects: - Each target group can use the teaching material combined corresponding to its learning profile. The access to these different teaching materials is regulated via special access conditions. - The attendance of the courses and the learning takes place online in the World Wide Web. That means that lessons can be started and interrupted at any time. - The lessons are practically oriented and offer the possibility for the self-control of the own learning-success. The didactical method implemented is problem-based learning. This guarantees a flexible and demand-oriented qualification. E-learning systems available at the market are mostly quite expensive. As our product, the e-Coaching portal is based on the programme Intrexx, it can be offered in the market for a lower price than these systems, because the time for developing the software is significantly less. Application sectors (market size, application potential) The e-learning market didn't grow as expected. One barrier for the broad dissemination of e-learning systems might be their price and missing acceptance of the end-users. These two constraints can be overcome by the e-Coaching portal as is a user-friendly system for a market-friendly price. Acceptance of the end-users can be furthermore reached by combining the training component of the e-Coaching portal with presence phases (blended learning). Current status/applications The e-Coaching portal is currently opened for the project partners. They can use it as information and communication tool. The e-learning component has been developed for the subject "Daylight in architecture", example sun shading of an office building.
