ON-LINE SIMULATIONS IN THE WEB

Objective

In order to develop communicative skills in foreign language learning, the target language must be used in realistic situations. Research has proved that real communication can be brought into the classroom by creating a totally fictitious frame through the use of role-play. New technology presents us with a possibility to convert problem-solving role-play into WWW-based interactive multimedia simulations that can be run in cross-national networks. The project's aim is to create an integrated WWW-based multimedia environment for role-play activities in language learning. Six countries are involved in the project, with three teachers and 15 students in each country.
