Objective
The first objective will be to compare and to validate the observations performed at the ESMOS network sites. The data sets obtained by each technique will be critically evaluated.
The second objective will be the study of the stratospheric impact of the Mount Pinatubo eruption in June 1991.

All the observations are based on atmospheric spectroscopy from the ultraviolet to the millimeter wavelength range. The experimental studies will be based on the currently available measurements of ozone using lidars, microwave radiometry (MR), UV-Visible absorption spectroscopy (UV-VIS), and Fourier Transform Spectroscopy in the infrared (FTIR). The aerosols measurements will be obtained by lidars, the reservoir species by FTIR, and the reactive species by UV-VIS, FTIR (NOx) and MR (ClO).
