Pa-tan-tex an accompanying measure to stimulate the research co-operation between three industrial sectors

Objective

The objective of this project is to identify similar problems for three industrial sectors and to stimulate the contacts and future co-operation between 3 research communities. The leather industry, the pulp and the paper industry and the textile industry all have well-developed and established research communities working to solve their environmental problems. However I the communication between these research communities am today very limited or non-existing. This project, which includes researchers from the 3 sectors, will identify future common research areas for the three sectors. Finally, a 2-day workshop for researchers in the paper industry, textile industry and the leather industry will be organised. The workshop will stimulate the contacts between the researchers from 3 research communities and also finalise the research priorities to be used as a basis for future integrated research projects
The project delivered all the planned deliverables according to the time-schedule. The main outcome was the development of short and medium-sized state-of-the-art descriptions for the three sectors and the identification of the future research needs for the sectors. Furthermore, the project workshop in September showed the need for further co-operation in this area and proposed a number of actions to be taken. Both the joint research priorities and the workshop conclusions are available from the project web site (see under results).
