In the current research a reliable and reproducible large scale fermentation and bioprocessing concept is developed for the microbial production of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) that can be used for (infant) food, aquaculture or pharmaceutical applications. In the process heterotrophic marine microorganisms are used.
