Isolation and characterization of main-group metal-alkene coordination complexes

Objective

In the frame work of an earlier EC-research project we investigated the syntheses and structures of various main-group (ansa)-metallocene complexes. Especially the investigations on a novel group of metallocene complexes, anionic alkalimetallocenes, have been rewarding.
In the course of our research we isolated a hitherto unseen complex of a main-group metal with a neutral alkene functionality. Such metal-alkene coordination complexes are generally accepted to be intermediates in the nucleophilic addition of polar organometallic compounds to alkenes. These results call for a more advanced investigation of main-group metal-alkene coordination. In the hereby requested continuation of our EC-project we will investigate the coordination chemistry of neutral alkenes and Group I/II metallocenes, using all available techniques like high-pressure IR spectroscopy, calculational methods, NMR and X-ray diffraction. The results of the proposed research will not only be of academic interest but will also be significant for a deeper understanding of alkene polymerization catalyses.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
