Objective
Nowadays the production shemes of natural stone manufacturing companies, and particularly those manufacturing granite products, are quite constrained by the limitations of current sawing machinery that seem to have reached an efficiency limit. This situation has no perspectives of improvement unless the whole model is restructured. The present project intends to design an innovative system for sawing granite blocks, based in a new concept that radically changes the current procedures of traditional machinery. This new concept integrates innovative ideas both for the mechanical design (including an original arrangement of the sawing elements: a bi-wire machine, a penta-wire machine and a final multi-wire machine and block handing devices: rail supported), the sawing tool itself and the waste management not using pollutant components, in a quite simple system. The expected efficiency rounds seven times that of the traditional methods.
