Objective
Shipbuilding as an integrating industry must cooperate in the network with other industries to gather and develop advanced technology. This sets strict requirements for the ship design efficiency. In this project, the aim is to develop the design methods and procedures in the initial and basic ship design phases, which are the most critical for the ship project. The target of this project is to analyse and determine the ship design from the aspects of spaces design, hull design and systems design, these forming the main design flow, but giving due consideration also for linked tasks, such as technical analysis, cost, planning etc. The objective of this project is to develop a single design methodology, based on 3D ship model that will make a platform for related and concurrent activities in the design and production process.
There are basically three types of deliverables in the project. The first type is formed by workshops where all participants have detailed their understanding about the data design process, and the requirements of the associated tasks. The second type of deliverables were the demonstrations of the present design tools and practices in use at the participating shipyards. The third type of deliverables are constituted by the description of the design flow and linked tasks, the yards requirement and the demonstration solutions for the design tool developed by the participating software companies. Furthermore there are also reports, which form the fourth type of deliverable. These latter deliverables constitute the formal contractual documents.
