CISA-INIA is the most modern and functional world-wide conception of a Biosafety Research Centre to work "in vitro" and "in vivo" in animal research on high risk and exotic infectious diseases as well as for studies on environmental health. The size and the quality of its infrastructure are pretty unique in the world where only 7 Biosafety large laboratories on Animal Health have similar characteristics. The High containment area covers 10,824 m2 with 26 laboratories and 14 common use rooms of Biosafety level 3 (BSL-3), including tissue culture rooms, imaging treatment, isotopes laboratory, photographic treatment, histology and pathology laboratories and electron microscopy . The animal facilities are composed of 21 individual, multi-species and polyvalent rooms with the potential to shelter from fishes to large animals as cattle and horses. The Environmental toxicology facilities cover an area of 923 m2 and are composed of 10 BSL-2 laboratories, animal facilities and auxiliary areas.
On February 2002 a website exclusively dedicated to the project will be available at www.ahbiosafety-cisa.ws , in which all the details of how to apply for access are described including the forms required to fill up the Proposal of Access. In addition an electronic email address for getting information about the programme is already available at firstname.lastname@example.org.
