Objective
The Data Mining techniques when are applied to complicated samples of rough information (long vector time series, images, spatial flows) demand overall adaptation to new conditions as well as further development of the information-theoretical background and programming technologies. In such a case important advantages consist of contemporary results achieved in related sub areas of traditional exploratory fields - pattern recognition and classification theory, discrete analysis, neural networks, clustering, statistics, optimisation, and some other fields of data analysis and processing. The aim of this project is to develop the theoretical basis for creating new algorithmic technologies of data mining and automatic reasoning, that include processes of archiving/retrieval of complicated data, and intelligent support of extraction of intrinsic knowledge from large and rough samples. The practical goal is the development of prototype smart systems with real applications, particularly, in GIS data management, Web surf services, and intellectual access to rough data from Web resources. The way to obtain a global result is to follow the cooperation of algorithms of data representation in adequate structures, and procedures of analysis and reasoning gauged to selected types of structures.
Basic types of structures are related here to logical regularities, set permutation codes, and complex nonlinear dependencies (CR2, CR3 teams), to Wold coordinates (CR5 team), pyramidal networks (CR4 team), specialized neuron nets (CO and CR1 teams). The CR2 and CR1 teams keep good experience in natural resource management having access to huge data amounts (Russian and European banks). The previous systems (e.g. LOREG and Taxon-Search) on pattern recognition and data analysis will be further developed to handle with new types of data and new forms of representation. The main potential of consortium is the complementary sum of exclusive theoretical know-how and rich practical experience in all mentioned above exploratory and applied fields.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
