ProTon Europe

Objetivo

The aim of the project is:
- to facilitate Networking among public research Organisations' transfer offices, for the exchange of experience and good practice at European level;
- to contribute to raising general professional standards;
- to provide an extensive geographical scope to networking activities, including regions and operators that may usefully benefit from the interaction (in particular regions of the EU and Associated States where this activity is hitherto less developed);
- to provide Commission services with access to these operators, in order to extract innovation policy lessons at European level.

The work plan will be carried out through 14 different work packages. The first 3 work packages concern the co-ordination of the project and the management of the network, the development and the running of the network and the organisation of activities and events which disseminate the outputs of the network and raise its visibility to its target group - TOs throughout the EU and the NACs. The management of the network is shared by the principal contractors in liaison with the co-ordinator.

The following 6 work packages (4 to 9) focus on the development of content through thematic working groups clustered around the following 6 themes: TO structure and management, patenting/IPR, licensing, interaction with industry, spin-offs and campus companies and policy development. Underpinning these thematic or vertical working groups are 4 generic or horizontal work packages (10-13), which provide input to the thematic vertical working groups and which help to shape coherent and diffusible outputs produced by the working groups for use by the network members/adherents. These 4 work packages are structured along the themes of continuous professional development and training, good practice, tools and interface observatory. The matrix structure will allow a methodological approach to the objective of the network to make available success stories for TO s by collecting and structuring the available cases in a 'good practice' benchmark format. This 'good practice' will form the basis to identify 'tools' and how these tools are available or can be acquired through 'training' or 'continuous professional development'.
