CEC solar office on international buildings exhibition in World TOP-15 City

Objetivo

The project covers the design and construction of a solar low-energy office building in Denmark. The intention of the design is to :
- Reduce energy consumption for heating by 2/3 using exhaust air windows for heating and ventilation load levelling in combination with optimised known energy saving techniques.
- Reduce energy consumption for artificial lighting by up to 4/5 by utilising daylighting through clerestories with light shelves, high ceilings, sawtooth roof, glazing with high light transmittance and intelligent artificial lighting controls.
- Optimise the thermal comfort by sun protection, natural ventilation and night cooling.

The 4700 sqm office building is defined as two L-shaped buildings angled 15 degrees in relation to each other. The outer "L" will be a two-storey building to be less "offensive" to the surroundings. The inner "L" is a three-storey building oriented exactly along the S-N and E-W axes. The angling and the curved building between the two L-shaped buildings symbolise the transmission of energy from the sunny side of the building to the shady side, which is one of the heating energy saving strategies.
The office building is designed by one of the leading archictects in Denmark, and as such is going to be a landmark for low-energy architecture. It is therefore expected that the successful completion of this project will lead to the design and construction of many more new low-energy office buildings influenced by the design and energy saving concept used here.
