CEC solar office on international buildings exhibition in World TOP-15 City

Exploitable results

Originally conceived the project covered pre-design analyses, design activities, construction, monitoring and evaluation of an office building in Denmark, the overall objective being to demonstrate how advanced solar and other low energy techniques can be integrated in an aesthetically pleasing architectural design that provides optimum indoor thermal and lighting comfort at minimum energy expenses. As the intended construction of the office building in Ballerup could not be carried through only the pre-design and early design analyses have been undertaken. To broaden the scope of the design analyses in the context of a building which actually was to be built, a different building typology was identified for analysis. This was a new primary school which was to be built in Stege on the Danish island Møn at the south-east part of Denmark. The studies encompassing architectural, natural ventilation and day-lighting studies are presented in the final project report. The results of the design studies were integrated into the final design of the school and the final school building exhibits advanced natural ventilation, day-lighting and artificial lighting control schemes based upon these analyses. The school has been completed and the user acceptance is very high.
