Objective
Up to now, experiences in the development and use of renewable energies have been obtained by European municipalities and regions. However, all these experiences still remain isolated in most cases and exchange of information and know-how has only partially occurred. Hence, there is a need to gather, evaluate and link the experiences and information on existing renewable energy pilot systems in Europe.
The outcome of this project will be a set of optimized renewable energy con-cepts and systems for application in municipalities and regional entities. A manual for the local integration of renewable energies will be elaborated and disseminated to all interested European municipalities and regions.
This project will set up a network of excellence between European municipalities and regions that are the most advanced and most experienced with regard to renewable energy development and use. Already existing links between municipalities and regions will be strengthened and platforms for information exchange, competition of ideas and development of new concepts will be created. A wide range of single renewable energy technologies as well as combined approaches and aspects related to the overall optimized integration of renewables in municipalities and regions will be considered. The best available systems and integration schemes will be further developed in a common effort of all partners and with the assistance of experts.
