Objective
Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS), toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), acute generalized exanthemetous pustulosis (AGEP) and drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) are rare but severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCAR) to drugs with high morbidity and mortality. Based on 11 countries, proposal aims are 1) an European Registry of SCAR, 2) a centralised collection of biological samples and 3) a large cohort of patients. This registry will extend prior studies on pharmacoepidemiology and allow continuous surveillance of new drugs. The sample bank will allow to investigate the immunologic mechanisms of SCAR, to look for candidate genes. The cohort will provide insights on the outcome, impact of sequelae on the quality of life and possible treatments of these reactions. With the world largest database on SCAR, an European Registry will provide reference information to regulatory agencies, drug companies, physicians and patients.
