Objective
The prime target area for the proposed project aims at controlling human diseases such as overweight, where the fibre product can be tailored to give a delayed gastric emptying effect, counteract malnutrition by carrying essential vitamins and minerals, and help controlling diabetes which require a low intake and a slow release of sugar during digestion. Furthermore, the new healthy products include the verified benefits of dietary fibres in combination with limitation of fatabsorption. The foreseen product is a food ingredient and is intended to cover a wide range of industrial food products. The basic product will be based on the use of natural biological materials where dietary fibres will be the starting material to form backbone to which various active and functional groups can be attached, giving the product its specific characteristics, e.g. a sweet taste, a pleasant flavour, antioxidant properties and more.
