Genes and genetic engineering for arbuscular mycorrhiza technology and applications in sustainable agriculture

Objectif

Over fertilising, agricultural additives like sewage wastes and atmospheric pollution cause decreases in soil fertility and plant production. Arbuscularmycorrhizal fungi are symbiotic microorganisms central to plant development unnatural conditions (bio fertilisers, bio protectors) and can be used as bio tools for new strategies in plant production systems to avoid heavy chemical inputs. This joint project between research institutions and Sees will provide:
1) sound information about genes encoding high value symbiotic functions in arbuscularmycorrhizal fungi, necessary for their optimal use as bio fertilisers,
2) genetically modified fungal products with new biological properties for plant growth enhancement in polluted soils (bio protection) and with a low impact on the environment, and
3) added value carbuncular mycorrhizal fungi for inoculums use implant production and as biosensors for soil pollution.
