Objective
PE/PS and PE/PA 6 alloys for use in high voltage direct current cables were developed; this research may lead to a new generation of cables which no longer need impregnated paper.
New diblock copolymers (HPB-b-PA and HPB-b-PMMA) were also developed. These may lead to a new generation of recyclable materials (polyolefin/PA 6 alloys, polyolefin/polyester alloys and polyolefin/inorganic filler alloys).
THE PROJECT IS INTENDED TO SHOW THE SUPERIORITY OF POLYMERIC ALLOYS OVER POLYMER-ADDITIVE MIXTURES IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING APPLICATIONS SUCH AS ELECTRIC CABLES, INSULATING MATERIALS FOR SUPPORTS, HIGH VOLTAGE INSULATORS, CAPACITORS.
MIXING DIFFERENT KINDS OF POLYMERS MAY BRING ENHANCEMENT OF THEIR ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES, BUT USUALLY POLYMER BLENDS HAVE BAD MECHANICAL PROPERTIES, UNLESS ALLOYED BY APPROPRIATE COMPATIBILIZING AGENTS SUCH AS SEQUENCED BLOCK COPOLYMERS.
SUCH AGENTS MAY ALSO BE USED FOR "ALLOYING" INORGANIC MATERIALS AND POLYMERIC MATERIALS.
THE AIM OF THE PROJECT IS THE OPTIMIZATION OF POLYMER ALLOYS CONTAINING POLYOLEFINIC MATERIAL AND ANOTHER PHASE SUCH AS A POLAR POLYMER, A THERMALLY CONDUCTIVE INORGANIC MATERIAL, ETC.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
