Objetivo
The objective is to make a comparative analysis of the perception of major technological risks in France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and Belgium.
The Seveso directive imposes on public authorities and industries the obligation of informing the public of the risk to which they are exposed from certain high risk installations. This requirement has provided the initiative for information campaigns in the different member states. So as to evaluate precisely the effect of these campaigns, it is necessary to be able to compare the public's perception of risk before and after the campaign.
This project aims to do this by 6 main programmes of work as follows.
A qualitative preinvestigation, interview of 250 people, to supply the necessary information to formulate the questionnaire.
Development of questionnaire proposal which is altered following the remarks of the collaborators so as to develop the final common questionnaire.
Interview of 600 people in each of the 5 countries, 400 from a highly industrialized region, 200 from a region not exposed to industry.
Statistical analysis and comments on the results of the 5 investigations using the same logistics of data treatment.
Final synthesis of the data collection in the different countries.
A concrete strategy of communication including some recommendations and advice for developing communication support.
