TELEMATICS FOR TEACHER TRAINING

Exploitable results

T3, the Telematics for Teacher Training project, supports over 4000 teachers in building a new understanding of the potential for telematics in schools and universities through a major initiative across the European Union. The project is building a wide range of Internet-based courses on best practise in teaching mathematics, languages, science, technology and environment using telematics resources. The project's infrastructure is based on 2 complimentary channels of digital communication: standard Internet technologies and the higher-speed ISDN. An expansive and rapidly-growing Internet site which models best practice is a fundamental part of the project. The important technologies include standard desktop PCs connected to the Internet, some of which are capable of videoconferencing through point-to-point digital data transmission (ISDN). This allows further opportunities for innovative and effective use of telematics for education and training.
