QUARTET PLUS staged demonstrations of co-operative transport telematics monitoring and control schemes in Athens, Gothenburg, The Midlands, Stuttgart, Toulouse and Turin. Major beneficiaries of such 'integrated road traffic environments' are transport operators, local and regional authorities, including police, service providers and traffic engineers. A decision support expert system (CLAIRE) has been validated for urban traffic congestion management allowing the implementation of transport strategies corresponding to actual traffic conditions. It will be made commercially available world-wide. A real-time traffic and pollution monitoring map has been validated in Athens. This allows better management of pollution episodes in large metropolitan areas via traffic dissuasion strategies based on actual conditions. It will be made commercially available world-wide.
