Exploitable results

TABASCO has validated prototypes of enhanced traffic control and traveller information systems in Munich/Bavaria, Glasgow/Scotland, Amsterdam and S.Yorkshire, which were at the same time monitored by Dublin, London and Lyon. Major beneficiaries are transport and traffic operators and authorities. The traffic-adaptive signal control system BALANCE will be made commercially available for better dynamic traffic control for intersections in urban areas. The hazard warning system COMPANION has been validated on Munich's A92 motorway to the airport, resulting in a reduction of drivers' speeds in the vicinity of incident zones and will be made commercially available. The OPERA expert system for traffic incident management developed in France has been validated in Glasgow and will be made commercially available world-wide. It will permit the realisation of an automatic incident detection and driver information system via variable message signs.
