CONSTRUCTION OF THE FIRST OF TEN 300 KW WIND TURBINES FOR THE HARBOUR OF DUNKIRK

Objective

To install a 300 kW horizontal axis Wind Turbine on the jetty of Dunkirk harbor connected to the national grid, in order to gain experience and evaluate the local potential.
Delay due to difficulties in finding the most windy place in Dunkerque.
A 300 kW, 3-bladed horizontal axis wind turbine will be installed on the jetty of the Dunkirk harbor in order to be connected to the national grid. The 25 m rotor diameter wind turbine is supplied by HMZ Windmaster and is provided with an asynchronous generator rated at 380 V, 50 Hz, 1520 rpm, placed on a 30 meter tapered tube.
The whole wind energy plant is controlled by a microprocessor. After the wind turbine erection a series of intensive measurements is going to be carried out. Since the hypotheses on the wind potential of this exceptional site will have been verified, a windfarm, comprising 10 turbines, will be designed. The annual yield is estimated at 487 MWh. For the realization of the project the proposer is cooperating with HMZ Belgium N. V. and Espace Eolien Regional (FR).
