Objective
A RATIER FIGEAC RF-100 windmachine will be installed at Ouessant island of Brittany by EDF in order to demonstrate the benefits of windpower for island diesel grids. The estimated energy production is 250,000 KWh/yr.
Project abandoned due to technical failure.
On the island of Ouessant-Brittany a 100 KW Ratier-FIGEAC RF 100 windmachine will be installed by Electricite de France (EDF) at a place where another had failed. It will be connected to the local 2.5 MW diesel power grid in order to demonstrate the benefits of windpower for such grids. Due to the site of the installation, the wind machine has very high transport and maintenance costs. It is remarkable that the energy cost exceeds by only 5 % (410 KF/yr instead of 390 KF/yr) the cost of energy generated by the diesel engines. The cost of the wind energy is rather low at 1 F/KWh. The estimated wind energy production is 250-300,000 KWh/yr which corresponds to a total saving of 55-70 TEP/yr. The demonstration phase lasts 15 months.
