Project description
Training and education of nuclear data experts
Accurate and precise nuclear data are a basis for the development and safety improvement of nuclear technology. To keep up the complex cycle of nuclear data the next generation of researchers needs to be trained in many scientific specialities. The ARIEL project will provide an opportunity for 90 early-stage researchers and technicians to learn from international experts at 23 accelerator- or reactor-based neutron beam facilities. The project will focus on experimental work, adding a minimum total of 3 000 beam-time hours to the experience of applicants. Additionally, it will offer up to 30 on-site research stays of a maximum 12 weeks, and promote interest in the sector by holding 4 summer schools for 80 physics and engineering students.
