Quantitative materials analysis for microelectronics and science-based industries in the NIS

Obiettivo

The aim of this project is to establish a scientific network to promote the use of quantitative materials analysis methods to support research, development and production within newly structured industrial enterprises in the NIS. This will involve the training of young engineers and scientists, and the enhancement of equipment and systems. The training activities will be undertaken within a research environment in which specific investigations involving studies of technologically important materials will be carried out. These studies will concern mainly microelectronic materials, especially semiconductors, including SiGe and SiC but not excluding other thin-film and bulk materials systems such as metals, polymers and oxides.

The aim is to support the training of selected members of staff from NIS laboratories who will make short term visits of l to 6 months to laboratories of INTAS Members to broaden their experience and undertake precompetitive research which will be continued in their home laboratories on their return. Research activities will be chosen that are suitable for publication in international journals and match the academic and industrial needs of the NIS.
