Obiettivo The main aim from this project is to produce wire rod that can be used directly for the production of cold-stamped high-strength screws without subsequent tempering, thereby achieving a reduction in costs. The other aims associated with the foregoing are to: - select a chemical composition for steels, capable of developing ductile structures by means of rapid cooling; - ascertain the behaviour of very low carbon martensitic/bainitic mixtures during drawing and subsequent cold working; - study the problems created by the tempering of screw threads in the steel selected in a cold water bath and develop the process; - compare the processing, mechanical and technological aspects of such a method with those pertaining to the conventional alternative.
