Technical reports in the field of general product safety
The European Commission, DG XXIV, has published a call for expressions of interest to provide the Commission with technical reports in the field of product safety. This is in order to implement the provisions of Article 7 of Directive 92/59/EEC on general product safety, which stipulates that the Commission will decide on the justification of actions taken by Member States under the Directive against unsafe consumer products. These technical reports would also be required to assist the Commission in assessing the character of the risks notified under the Rapid Exchange System provided for under Article 8 of the Directive. Assistance is sought for all types of non-food consumer products such as toys, clothing and aerosols. This present call for expressions of interest will remain valid for a period of three years.
