Two new services highlighting research and innovation in Scotland and in Catalonia have just been launched by CORDIS. Each services provides details of the research infrastructure in the region, outlining the major research activities in that region and looking at regional participation in EU-supported R&D. They also provide contact points and information for companies and organizations interested in research activities, in particular to encourage cooperation between different regions. These new regional services have been established on the same model as the Piemonte service, launched earlier this year. It is planned that further regional services will be launched in the coming months, adding a valuable new dimension to the CORDIS service. Developed in partnership with the local and regional governments and development agencies from the regions concerned, these services represent a major step in making CORDIS more user-friendly. The Scotland service has been developed in collaboration with the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (CoSLA), which represents all the Scottish local authorities, and Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Scotland's two development agencies. It provides information on Scotland's universities and research funding bodies, and will provide a regular spotlight on key research activities and technologies in Scotland. The service can be found at: http://cordis.europa.eu/scotland/home.html The Catalonia service was developed with the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, in particular, the Patronat Catala Pro Europa, an agency which provides information on EU activities, and the Catalan Innovation Relay Centre. It gives details of Catalan policies for technological development and provides links to universities and research institutes, as well as spotlighting Catalan research successes. The Catalan service can be found at: http://cordis.europa.eu/catalonia/home.html
