Health risk surveillance
The European Commission, DG V, has published an invitation to tender for a scientific analysis of systems for reporting the effects of chemical and biological agents and medicinal products on health, in order to develop preventive measures. This analysis will assist in the development of the Community's public health strategy, including health monitoring, surveillance and poison-control activities. The analysis should encompass the contribution of the pharmaco- and toxico-vigilance mechanisms and poison control centres nationally and internationally. It should cover the situation in the EU Member States, in selected accession states, and in third countries with well-developed traditions in this area of work, such as the USA, Canada or Australia. The tender is divided into two lots: - Lot 1: The analysis of systems for surveillance of health risks arising from the use by members of the public of chemical and biological agents and medicinal products; - Lot 2: Analysis of activities on improving the prevention of acute human poisoning.
