A Council Resolution has been passed concerning nationals of Member States who hold a diploma, certificate or other evidence of formal qualifications awarded by a third country. Although Council Directive 92/51/EEC of 18 June 1992 (OJ No L 209 of 24.7.1992) refers, in principle, only to diplomas, certificates and other evidence of formal qualifications awarded in Member States to nationals of Member States, the Council invites the governments of Member States to allow those persons holding diplomas, certificates or other evidence of formal qualifications awarded in third countries to take up and pursue regulated professions with the Community by recognizing these diplomas, certificates and other evidence of formal qualifications in their territories.
