The BrusselsAgenda portal is a good example of a Mashup, which is a Web application that combines data from more than one source into a single integrated tool, and implies easy, fast integration, frequently done by access to open APIs and data sources to produce results that were not the original goal of the data owners. BrusselsAgenda.eu uses three different data sources: Google Ajax Translate, Google Maps and an external hotels database with more than 200.000 hotels worldwide. BrusselsAgenda, in fact, offers: * Single reference point for all European Affairs events (useful info, maps, nearby hotels, RSS, automatic translations to ES, DE, FR, IT) * Socially-enabled network to post/edit/manage your EU events completely free of charge! * Powerful Email notification system to keep you updated in real-time of new events by EU policy of your interest. The portal offers a valuable showcase for conference and workshop in all research application fields such as RTD, Energy, Environment, Transport and Information Society. Moreover, CORDIS, the Community Research and Development Information Service, has created an account on BrusselsAgenda.eu and will post the organised events to give further visibility plus practical and logistic information provided by the portal.
