Directory of European fisheries research
The future of the Common Fisheries policy depends on progress in the relevant areas of research. In this process the Commission wishes to act as a catalyst, promoting the circulation of information and the coordination of research programmes. Hence Directorate-General XIV has compiled and published (in conjunction with the dissemination of scientific and technical knowledge unit of DG XIII) a directory listing research centres concerned with fisheries and aquaculture in the Member States The directory is based on a questionnaire which was circulated as widely as possible to Community research institutions. The authorities of each Member State were then asked to revise a first draft. Information on research centres includes address and contact person, type of institute, research area, budget, and a description of major research activities. A general description of the state of research in each of the Member States is also provided. The directory is to be regularly updated.
