European Science Foundation prioritises the geosciences
The European Science Foundation has published a 16-page booklet, "Earth Sciences and ESF", setting out its current scientific priorities for the geosciences. It includes details of relevant ESF's scientific programmes in 1999: - Airborne Polar Experiment (APE); - EUROPROBE; - ESF Consortium for Ocean Drilling (ECOD); - European Ice Sheet Modelling Initiative (EISMINT); - European Lake Drilling Project (ELDP); - European Project for Ice Coring in Antarctica; - Geodynamics and Ore Deposit Evolution (GEODE); - Groundwater Pollution (GPoll); - Quaternary Environment of the Eurasia North (QUEEN); - Response of the Earth System to Impact Processes (IMPACT); - Transport Processes in the Atmosphere and Oceans (TAO). And, as well as listing suitable European research conferences and exploratory workshops in 1999, it gives details of relevant ESF scientific networks: - Exploring the Deep Sub-Seafloor Biosphere; - Regional Climate Modelling and Integrated Global Change Impact studies in the European Arctic (CLIMPACT).
