Call for Presentations launched for EPoSS Annual Forum 2013
“Geared up for Horizon 2020: Smart Systems Satisfying Societal Needs, Meeting Market Requirements & Exploiting Cross-Cutting Technologies”

The Call for Presentations was launched for the EPoSS Annual Forum 2013 which will be held on 26 September 2013 in Cork, Ireland. The EPoSS Annual Forum will for the first time be a joint event with the annual Micro-Nano-Bio Systems (MNBS) Workshop. MNBS 2013 will be held on 24-25 September 2013, the EPoSS General Assembly & Annual Forum 2013 on 25-26 September 2013.

Smart Systems Integration provides solutions for the societal challenges that Europe is currently facing, in particular for secure, clean and efficient energy, for health, well-being and demographic change, and for smart, green and integrated transport. In order to master societal challenges, a lively Smart Systems Integration Ecosystem is required, which is able to provide a comprehensive portfolio of competitive products. The key enabler for such products and consequently for European industrial leadership is Smart Systems Integration, with its multi-disciplinary and multi-scale approach and its ability to use the best properties of each of these for product development. To keep a leading position, it is essential to develop and maintain an excellent science base in Europe. This task requires a continuous and concerted engagement of all players, from education, through basic research, to successful product launch. EPoSS with its Annual Forum provides the ideal environment for the presentation of good practice and the exchange of knowledge. This year’s EPoSS Call for Presentations therefore focuses upon: We particularly invite end users such as clinicians, hospital operators, equipment manufacturers, service providers, energy atilities, water suppliers, mass transportation organisations and logistics companies to present their Smart Systems solutions and requirements, with an emphasis upon the following three sectors in order to illustrate the impact of Smart Systems in every walk of life and the way they are perceived by the general public: We invite presentations in particular from manufacturers and users who capitalise on the advantages of Smart Systems Integration for innovative and competitive products in application fields where Europe is traditionally strong or which are considered promising sectors, such as: We invite contributions from experts in new operating principles that are able to substantially enhance product performance as well as papers from technology developers who are mastering the multi-disciplinary, multi-material and multi-scale challenges of Smart Systems Integration. For all the priority areas of the Call, presentations should be in line with the industrial and applications driven character of the EPoSS Annual Forum. Presentations will be selected by members of the EPoSS Steering Group. . Invitations for selected presentations will be sent by 16th August 2013. If selected, the deadline for submission of the full presentation will be 8th September 2013. This year the EPoSS General Assembly & Annual Forum and the concurrent meetings of the EPoSS Expert Working Groups will for the first time be held in conjunction with the annual MNBS Consultation and Concertation Workshop on Micro-Nano-Bio Convergence Systems.
